You have to click on “Set up your Akismet account” to get the free API key.
Then on the next page you have to click on “Get your API key”. Now it will redirect you to Akismet website, where you will be able to get Akismet API Key for your website for free.
Here you have to ‘GET AN AKISMET API KEY‘ or scroll down and click on Get Started.
Then under Just Akismet then click on “Add Basic (Free)” plan.
On the next page, slide the $48 /Year slider to the left, up to $0 /Year.
Then click on “Create Subscription”. Now it will bring up a pop up in which you can say “Thanks! Your Akismet Basic subscription has been created”.
