President Donald Trump’s campaign to replace the term “artificial intelligence” with “super intelligence” is gaining traction among prominent tech executives, with Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff announcing a rebrand of the company’s AIForce platform and Elon Musk pledging to rename SpaceXAI as SpaceXSI.
Benioff announced the change Friday in a post on X, writing, “The era of Super Intelligence is here. AIForce is officially SIForce.”
Musk had pledged Sunday to rename SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI, extending Trump’s terminology push beyond the federal government and into the private sector. Salesforce’s rebrand applies to its agent platform, not the company itself.
Trump has made clear that he wants the technology industry to adopt his preferred terminology. In a post on Truth Social on Thursday, he wrote that the White House considers anyone using “Artificial Intelligence” instead of the “highly accepted new and more accurate term” of “Super Intelligence” to be “THE ENEMY!”
The remarks follow a September 29 executive order directing federal agencies, to the extent permitted by law, to replace “Artificial Intelligence” and “AI” with “Super Intelligence” and “SI” in official communications, websites, reports, and policy documents.
The order does not require private companies to adopt the new terminology. However, the moves by Benioff and Musk suggest that Trump’s preferred language is beginning to influence corporate branding.
The administration argues that the term “artificial intelligence” no longer adequately describes the capabilities of modern AI systems. According to the executive order, these technologies increasingly amplify human creativity, making “Super Intelligence” a more suitable description of their potential.
The rebranding effort could create complications for companies whose names and products already incorporate “AI.” It also raises questions about how the term “super intelligence” should be defined and applied.
The term generally refers to systems that surpass human capabilities across a broad range of tasks. Renaming an existing AI product, however, does not establish that it has reached that level of capability.
