Kendrick Lamar to Headline 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show for Apple Music

News: Kendrick Lamar is set to headline the 2025 Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show, taking place on February 9, 2025, at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. The highly anticipated event, which will air on Fox, was officially announced by Roc Nation, the NFL, and Apple Music.

This will be Lamar’s second Super Bowl Halftime Show appearance, following his standout performance at the 2022 show alongside Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and 50 Cent. That performance was widely acclaimed and won an Emmy for Outstanding Live Variety Special, thanks to the combined efforts of Jay-Z, Jesse Collins, and the entire lineup.

For his upcoming halftime show, Kendrick Lamar will work with pgLang, the creative agency he co-founded with collaborator Dave Free. Known for their innovative approach to music and visual storytelling, pgLang will be responsible for the creative direction of Lamar’s performance.

In a statement, Lamar expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity, saying, “Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one.” At 37, Lamar continues to be a defining figure in hip-hop, with a career marked by critical acclaim and commercial success.

Jay-Z and Roc Nation, who are returning for their sixth year producing the halftime show, have a track record of success, including Jay-Z’s recent Emmy win for co-directing Rihanna’s 2023 halftime performance. This year’s show, featuring Usher, was nominated for three Emmys and set a record as the most-watched halftime performance ever.

Seth Dudowsky, the NFL’s head of music, praised Lamar’s influence on music and culture, stating, “Kendrick has proven his unique ability to craft moments that resonate, redefine, and ultimately shake the very foundation of hip-hop.” He expressed excitement about working with Lamar, Roc Nation, and Apple Music for what promises to be a memorable halftime show.

Oliver Schusser, Apple’s VP of Apple Music, Apple TV+, Sports, and Beats, highlighted the significance of the Super Bowl Halftime Show, saying, “The Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show is a celebration of the music we love and the incredible artists who make it. Apple is thrilled to bring this show, starring the incomparable Kendrick Lamar, to fans worldwide with industry-leading Spatial Audio quality, exclusive videos, interviews, and more across Apple Music.”

The Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show will be produced by DPS, with Roc Nation and Jesse Collins serving as executive producers. Hamish Hamilton will direct the show, and Roc Nation will act as the strategic entertainment advisor for this high-profile performance.
